New Year, New Goals

It’s a new year, and it’s time for some resolutions! We know it can be difficult to form new habits, but starting small can have a great impact over time. I know we talk about purging quite a bit, but it truly is the most important part of getting and staying organized.

December is such a busy month of gift-giving and receiving that it’s so important in January to find a place in your home for new items.  We always recommend getting rid of some things whenever you get anything new.  If you keep up with this practice, it’s a concrete way to make sure you’re never back to square one with too many things and nowhere to put them!

SETTING NEW GOALS

The beginning of a new year is a great time to be intentional about setting goals that you’d like to become habits. Here are a few daily routines you can work on to maintain your home organization.

  1. MAKE YOUR BED - It promotes productivity and keeps your room feeling like a retreat for you at the end of every day.

  2. KEEP THE KITCHEN CLEAN - Tidy up prep items as you’re cooking to make the most efficient use of your time.  Run the dishwasher every night. Put items away, and wipe off the countertops before you go to bed so you wake up with a fresh start.

  3. PUT CLOTHES AWAY - Take care of clothing as soon as it comes off: hang, fold, or put in the laundry basket.

Adding these small adjustments into your daily routine will allow you much more time for the things you love!
